Daath est un mot hébreux signifiant « connaissance ». Une connaissance élitiste, qui ne peut être atteinte par les masses ordinaires. C’est surement pour ça que les ricains de DAATH, nouvellement signés chez Roadrunner, proposent une musique qui se veut fouillée, intelligente, riche. Sur une base de Metal traditionnel teinté de claviers subtilement intégrés, le groupe s’efforce de varier les influences et les ambiances. The Inderers commence par un « Subterfuge » orienté Thrash avec un passage plus aérien, suivi par « From The Blind » et ses envolées de guitares très Heavy. Des sonorités Indus commencent à faire leur apparition sur « Cosmic Forge » et « Ovum » présente un riff Death dévastateur. Bref, The Inderers brasse tout ce que peut proposer le genre pour proposer un album intéressant, mais qui manque justement d’un peu de cohérence. La voix de Sean Farber est le seul fil conducteur qui nous mène à travers ces 13 titres variés, mais la production est trop propre pour que l’on puisse différencier DAATH d’un autre groupe. La démarche est louable, mais The Inderers manque d’efficacité, d’une réelle personnalité pour marquer l’auditeur.
Il n’empêche que cet album est très plaisant à l’écoute et contient quelques pépites telles que « Blessed Through Misery» ou encore le très bon « Dead On The Dance Floor » qui porte bien son nom avec ses sonorités sorties d’une boîte de nuit humide et crasseuse.
Pas un album ultime, mais une galette qui ravira ceux qui veulent un album de bon Metal traditionnel et varié à la fois.
