Généralement promoteurs de formations Black métalliques, Melancholia Records a voulu frapper un grand coup en lançant sa nouvelle section de Brutal Death. Il ne leur aura pas été nécessaire de se rendre à l’autre bout du monde car c’est justement en France qu’est apparu HECATOMBIC.
Avec des sobriquets tels que Putrid, Uro, Vomiting et Septic, on aurait pu supposer qu’il s’agissait là d’un combo de Grindcore bien cradingue et maculé de vomis et d’urine ! Bien loin de cela, le groupe originaire de la région parisienne en est à sa deuxième réalisation avec Delights Of The Despicable, faisant suite à leur première auto-production datant de 2002 Insanity In The Depths.
Corroborant tous les espoirs placés en eux dès leur premier album, ce second opus écrase tout sur son chemin : un véritable déluge de férocité ! Compositions extrêmes, rapides et variées, les quatre gus révèlent une technicité bien en point. D’une part, le duo de voix apporte plus d’impact et de profondeur aux huit premiers morceaux qui, exemple même de ce que du bon Brutal Death peut donner !
D’autre part, une attention particulière a été effectué sur le son des guitares, dont le rendement est énorme ! Des murs de guitares tantôt grassouillets, tantôt thrashy, distillant même de brefs solis comme sur « Addicted To Blood » par exemple.
En complète maîtrise de leur sujet, HECATOMBIC offre des compositions pour la plupart véloces, mais les franciliens savent également se faire moins brutaux dans leurs structures et savent concocter des passages vraiment impressionnants de justesse et de noirceur : tous les titres valent le détour et l’opus prend fin de manière magistrale avec « Desolated », une petite merveille instrumentale !
Melancholia Records peut donc être fière de son poulain carnassier qui administre une demi heure de Brutal Death de folie !
