Bons nombres de groupes prétendent repousser les limites du Metal extrême, THE BERZERKER le fait réellement. Avec ce nouvel album, le groupe laisse tomber les masques et se concentre uniquement sur la musique.
THE BERZERKER ne peut pas laisser indifférent et avec World Of Lies on tient là une musique ultra-violente et peu commune. Officiant dans un Death/Grind industriel et utilisant tout un tas d’effets, d'éléments de batterie électroniques, ce groupe apporte un souffle nouveau au sein de la scène Metal extrême !
Tous les instruments ou presque sont distordus. Nous avons affaire à un groupe plutôt original pratiquant un genre pas facile d'écoute. Le style a un aspect industriel qui donne une autre dimension et une agressivité décuplée à l'ensemble des titres de World Of Lies (qui a dit que ce sont les FEAR FACTORY du Grind ???).
En toute objectivité, il n'est pas du tout aisé d'apprécier un tel album en quelques écoutes seulement. N'importe quel adjectif violent pourrait être appliqué à ce groupe: chaotique, brutal, maniaque, destructeur… et l’on peut s’en rendre compte dès l’écoute des premiers morceaux « Committed To Nothing » et surtout « Black Heart » qui sont de vrais chefs d’œuvres.
On reconnaît la marque de fabrique de THE BERZERKER grâce à la vitesse ahurissante de la batterie électronique. La précision des riffs de guitare est au rendez-vous. Je regrette seulement que cette dernière n’ait pas une meilleure production. Les vocaux sont variés : à la fois gutturaux et hurlés de façon sépulcral et caverneuse.
Le groupe ne se risque jamais à proposer des titres à des rythmes presque civilisés : ici la vitesse doit être la plus élevée possible (écoutez « Follow Me » !!!). L’album se déroule à une rapidité fulgurante et redouble de brutalité morceau après morceau. Cependant il finit sur un titre planant et répétitif « Farewell ».
THE BERZERKER a le mérite de proposer quelque chose d'assez innovant à réserver aux amateurs de sensations très fortes. World Of Lies est un album de Grind/Death indus ultime sous amphétamines nucléaires !
