Où en est donc la relève dans le petit monde du Metal extrême chez nos voisins et néanmoins amis Suisse ? On pouvait se poser la question, car depuis les précurseurs CELTIC FROST (de retour cette année mais plutôt présent par intérim) et le virage Electro de SAMAEL qui n’est peut être pas apprécié par tout le monde, pas grand-chose à se mettre sous la dent. On dirait que cela bouge à nouveau et voilà donc la relève, on peut désormais mettre un nom dessus, c’est YOUR OWN DECAY, formation Helvète roulant sa bosse depuis 1998 et présentant enfin son premier effort sonore Recollection. Pour un premier album le jeu de la comparaison est souvent inévitable, c’est vers un mélange de MORBID ANGEL avec un soupçon de IN FLAMES que se tournent vos oreilles même si le groupe a semble t-il déjà trouvé son propre son.
Quelle belle entrée en matière que ce titre « Recollection » avec sa rythmique bulldozer qui sent bon les marais de Floride, le morceau évoluant tout doucement vers le son mélodique de Göteborg, premier morceau et déjà tout un voyage musical. Nouvelle intro et c’est « Electronic Porn » qui poursuit dans la même veine avant une accélération brutale sur « Her Wedding dress ». Avec un tel début d’album pied au plancher on peut s’attendre à une courte accalmie, il n’en est rien et c’est la rythmique sauvage de « Feed me » qui vous prend à la gorge, un break tribal et c’est reparti à grand coups de poings dans l’estomac. Les morceaux s’enchaînent sans aucun répit et c’est le très syncopé « For Freedoom » et une Outro rythmiquement très maîtrisée assure l’atterrissage dans la douleur. Ce Recollection est de ces albums qui ne vous laisse pas indifférent, pas forcément d’une durée excessive (à peine plus de 35 minutes), bénéficiant d’un son excellent et suffisamment lourd, parfait vecteur pour faire encore mieux passé la pilule.
Ca vous dirait la Floride ou la Suède à deux pas de chez vous ? Laissez donc YOUR OWN DECAY vous embarquer en route, le voyage n’en sera que plus agréable.
