Attention, nous avons à faire ici à des "papy" de la scène française (hormis le clavier de 17 ans !) en effet car on peut compter dans les rangs de Kragens des membres de Lynx, Strutters, Demon Eyes, Thorium, Tribal etc...
Bref, oublions le passé et concentrons nous sur l'actualité et donc de la démo éponyme de Kragens.
Question technicité, on ne peut pas leur reprocher beaucoup de choses... Kragens nous fait passer vingt minutes de pur Heavy Metal (et sans touches Hardcore comme j'ai pu le lire ailleurs !) certes pas traditionel mais un peu plus morderne et cela tombe bien car cela évite de tomber dans les clichés habituels.
Cette démo comporte quatre titres, les deux premiers "Nightmare" et "Satan the killer" sont à ambiances pesantes et toutefois assez linéaires mais Kragens se rattrape vite avec les 2 titres suivants "Fear" et "Destroyin' The Temple" qui sont plus speed, aux rhytmes plus variés et aux ambiances plus appuyées.
Le chant de Renaud Espeche est très affirmé et parfaitement dans la lignée Heavy Metal, on aurait presque envie de chanter les refrains avec lui mais sa capacité vocale est telle que l'on ne pourrait le suivre (surtout moi ayant plutôt une voix Death !)...
Certes la qualité sonore de cette démo n'est pas extraordinaire mais à tous les détracteurs qui ne comprennent pas toujours tout : il ne faut pas oublier que ce n'est qu'une démo et après tout, les démos à l'heure actuelle servent à faire connaitre la musique du groupe et à démarcher les labels, et pour ce travail cette démo y parvient aisément car le tout est suffisament audible pour se rendre compte des possibilités du line-up...
Kragens à soutenir et à voir en concert bientôt près de chez vous !
