FALL OF SERENITY a été crée en 1998 et durant ce laps de temps les Allemands ont réalisé la bagatelle de trois albums: Smoldering Doom en 2000, Grey Man’s Requiem en 2001 et enfin Royal Killing en 2004. Un bon rythme de croisière pour ces bûcheurs de Death Metal dont l’Allemagne et l’Europe ont fait la connaissance ces dernières années. Leur récente signature au sein du label de Metalcore Lifeforce Records l’an passé afin de profiter du savoir-faire et de leurs structures consiste à en faire une des formation les plus reconnues et ambitieuses de la scène Death Metal du Vieux Continent. Dès lors, le début de FALL OF SERENITY chez Lifeforce Records se traduit par la sortie de leur quatrième album Bloodred Salvation qui combine de savants assauts brutaux à des rythmiques de guitares aiguisées, le tout se fondant dans une subtile diffusion d’effets électroniques.
Comme bien souvent dans ce genre de produit, les musiciens instruisent leurs travaux par une intro au piano et tout le toutim censé instauré le climat d’ensemble de l’opus. Rageur et pesant, FALL OF SERENITY ne semble pas enclin à la rigolade. « Out of The Clouds » est le titre suivant qui le confirme. Un titre de Deathcore à la HATESPHERE en moins omnipotent et magistral annonce d’emblée ce que l’on pourra trouver sur ce Bloodred Salvation. Il en sera de même avec le morceau « Raise Your Remorse » et son intro mitraillette de blastbeats. Rien d‘étonnant puisque le disque a été mixé et masterisé au Hansen Studio appartenant à Jacob Hansen, leader charismatique du dit groupe Danois HATESPHERE. Le Deathcore soumis par René Beltzold (chant), Eddy Langner & Alexander Fischer (guitares), John Gahlert (basse) et Lutz Einenkel (batterie) se voit ajouter d’autres éléments comme des tournures façon Meltalcore, des passages vocaux en chant clair, des lignes mélodiques inhabituelles pour le genre avec des structures de morceaux pour la plupart catchies.
Les superpositions vocales de R.Beltzold (cf. le titre « Dead Eyes ») collent remarquablement aux arrangements écrits par le groupe. Les titres étant riches mais sans être complexes, FALL OF SERENITY dispose d’un bagage technique relativement étoffé pour être à même de composer des structures fouillées et soignées. De bonnes trouvailles font leur apparition sur cet opus comme les titres « As I Watch » ou « Overflowing Senses » ; il est juste dommage que ce ne soit que des bribes de bons passages et que certains titres ne soient pas intégralement bons ! Ainsi, la piste « A Piece of You » contient des éléments électroniques et break intéressant. De bonnes idées malheureusement pas assez exploitées. On reste donc sur notre faim. Le titre « Bloodred Salvation » est un instrumental au piano accompagné de samples qui casse la brutalité musicale ambiante des titres précédents. Indéniablement une des plage les plus intéressante et envoûtante de l’album de FALL OF SERENITY. Dans le rayon des points décevants, une forte propension à l’utilisation d’une batterie triggée et d’un son trop clinique enlève toute la spontanéité aux morceaux. A croire que le groupe mise tout sur un son énorme et à être trop carrée et professionnel, on perd un peu de fraîcheur et de vivacité. Un potentiel un peu trop perdu dans les méandres du mur du son, espérons que FALL OF SERENITY saura atterrir…
