Formé en 1995 et avec déjà quelques albums à son actif, THESYRE est un groupe venant des terres lointaines du Canada. Après deux albums Thesyre (2003) et Duality (2005) et des Split avec CORPUS CHRISTII (2003) et AKISTA (2005), le groupe a décroché une signature avec Osmoses Productions pour son nouvel album Exist.
Venant plus particulièrement du Québec, cette horde a la ferme intention de prouver qu’il n’y pas que GAROU, Natacha St PIERRE ou Céline DION qui représente la musique de ce pays. Avec leurs compatriotes que sont FROZEN SHADOWS, la mission ne sera pas très simple. Pourtant le groupe paraît motivé, motivation que l’on retrouve à travers les paroles depuis le début: élitiste et persévérance sont les principaux sujets de THESYRE.
Pour ce troisième enregistrement longue durée, THESYRE a eu une idée ambitieuse : cet opus ne compte qu’un seul titre de plus de trente minutes ! Bon ok pour les plus pointilleux, il y a également une version très courte du titre (3 minutes) pour que celui-ci puisse passer en radio ou sur… mais quelle radio ??? Enfin bref il n’y a que les groupes de Black Metal ou de progressif qui puissent tenter une telle expérience. Les Suédois de PEST s’y étaient aventurés de fort belle manière avec leur disque Daudfaerd mais il ne durait « que 21 minutes »… dans un genre beaucoup plus True et malsain. Ou encore EDGE OF SANITY avec Crisom, mais le résultat était plus décevant. THESYRE évolue dans ce que l’on qualifie de Old School Black Metal à tendance Thrash.
Malgré son coté Old School très développé, ce disque sonne très moderne. Le titre est très varié, il ne s’agit pas de deux ou trois riffs de guitare répétés indéfiniment. Très Rock dans l’approche, très Thrash dans l’exécution et très Black/Death dans l’attitude, ces 30 minutes sont un vrai bonheur ! Les mélodies et les rythmes sont très accrocheurs et il sera impossible à tout auditeur d’écouter ce disque à faible volume. On a toujours envie de mettre plus fort… merci donc à la production très propre et efficace qui a su donner un son lourd et précis.
Passant de passages énergiques à d’autres plus mélodiques (le milieu du morceau avec ses guitares acoustiques), Exist est un morceau/album varié où les changements de structures, de rythmes ne se trouvent pas comme un poil de cul dans la soupe, mais particulièrement bien amenés.
La passion du Metal extrême l’emporte car on ne peut pas seulement parler de Black/Death/Thrash, et enlève le léger petit arrière goût de déjà entendu. Mais quand c’est bon on en reprendrait bien deux fois, non !?!?!?!
