Depuis 1995, SETH est un groupe à part dans le milieu du Black Metal français. Fier de plusieurs voyages en Norvège sur les terres des illustres fondateurs du « vrai » Black Metal, et enrichi de rencontres avec des groupes comme MAYHEM (en 1996…) SETH se retrouve avec une étiquette de groupe sulfureux, car à l’époque leur démarche était totalement anticonformiste.
Sa participation à certaines émissions pour ARTE ou M6 et leurs propos dans certains magazines les ont fait passé pour des « vendus », car il y a 10 ans, le Black Metal se devait de rester Underground.
Nastivity n’est pas le nouvel album de SETH, il s’agit d’une réédition d’une démo et du premier MCD ultra culte (et donc à tirage limité) qui sont sortis durant cette période et devenus introuvables. Ces enregistrements précédaient la sortie du monumental premier album du groupe : Les Blessures de l’âme. Nastivity jouit également d’un pressage limité à 999 exemplaires numérotés à la main. C’est en quelque sorte un cadeau pour ceux qui ont découvert le groupe avec son premier album et qui n’ont jamais pu écouter les démos et le premier MCD : By Fire, Power Shall Be.
Musicalement on sent tout de suite que les bases de leur premier album sont belles et bien présentes. Le chant en Français n’a pas encore fait son apparition, mais les atmosphères sont là. Le son est plus cru et moins léché mais de bonne qualité normale c’est une démo… il ne fallait pas s’attendre à de la béchamel non plus !!! A l’écoute de ces morceaux, on se rend tout de suite compte que le groupe est prêt à pondre quelque chose d’énorme. Les titres sont puissants, inspirés, variés… les voyages en Norvège se ressentent à travers la musique où un vent glacial souffle dans le dos… Sommes-nous perdus dans la brume qui enveloppe les fjords enneigés ? Pour trouver ces réponses il suffit de plonger dans « The Forest Of The Damned « Forever Lost » ou « The Chemical Quest », de fermer les yeux et d’imaginer… de se laisser bercer par la guitare sèche…
SETH n’est peut-être pas issus de la région bordelaise comme en témoigne sa carte d’identité… en tout cas il fut le premier groupe de l’hexagone à rivaliser et même à surclasser certains maîtres scandinaves.
