En 2005 DREAMLAND sortait un premier album qui reluquait sérieusement du côté de HAMMERFALL mais qui s’écoutait agréablement et qui avait d’ailleurs reçu de bons commentaires. Avec ce second opus, les Suédois ont grandi et ils ont un regard critique sur le travail passé : ils ont souhaité affiner leur style, affirmer leur personnalité. Ce qui est amusant c’est que le groupe a manifesté le désir de s’éloigner de la scène européenne pour adopter un style plus américain et il revendique comme influence majeure DOKKEN, or a aucun moment on ne peut sérieusement trouver de réelle ressemblance. DREAMLAND n’est pas parvenu à copier son modèle, c’est certain, mais pourtant cet album est loin d’être mauvais, au contraire.
DREAMLAND nous plonge dans un Heavy Metal mélodique de très bonne facture, alliant habilement les riffs nerveux et les rythmes rapides avec les mélodies soignées. Eye For An Eye s’écoute de bout en bout avec une réelle satisfaction qu’une production aux petits oignons rehausse encore. Car bien que l’on ne décèle aucun hit, chacun des titres contient les qualités suffisantes pour que l’on éprouve du plaisir à cette écoute. DREAMLAND a pris soin d’explorer chacune des facettes du genre afin de créer une certaine variété alors que l’on reste dans le même registre Heavy, jusqu’au titre final et ses passages de chant limite Death ! En d’autres termes, les Suédois sont fidèles à ce style en évitant la lassitude.
Le chant aigue et nasillard de Joacim Lundberg colle parfaitement aux compositions et il s’adapte très bien aux différentes ambiances.
DREAMLAND ne révolutionnera pas l’histoire du Metal avec cet album, mais il fournit son pain quotidien à tout fan de Heavy.
