Un an et demi après ...Et la douleur est la même, THE ARRS, combo Metal/Hardcore français nous revient avec un nouvel album. Du Hardcore pur et dur? Encore? Non pas tout à fait, THE ALIEN'S RIGHT RESPECT SECT (le nom savant du groupe) pêche ses ingrédients un peu partout : Metal, Death Mélodique, de quoi actualiser un style un poil vieillot (quoiqu'en dise les plus fidèle détracteurs du Hardcore, que je respecte d'ailleurs!). Si le précédent opus puisait beaucoup dans la mode actuelle pour ses riffs (du genre AS I LAY DYING, FEAR MY THOUGHTS), usant et abusant de cette sorte de Death Mélodique survitaminé, batterie en rafale et respirations calculées, le nouveau bébé du groupe revient aux sources.
Ce Trinité sent le bon vieux Hardcore des familles. Des tempis plus lourds, fini les basses alternées dans les rythmiques (excepté sur « Originel »), on retrouve principalement du riff gras, lourd, du genre qui tâche 3 épaisseurs de tissus de diverses matières. Alors Hardcore de base? ...Non ce n'est pas encore ça. Car là où THE ARRS fait particulièrement fort cette fois-ci, c'est en matière de son. Loin des superproductions suédoises nécessitant une habilitation antisismique de votre domicile pour une écoute en toute sécurité, les français ont réussi à avoir un son root mais pas dégueulasse. Ca bave, mais proprement. Les cris de Nico sont ultra-saturées mais ne débordent pas, la basse est bien en avant, distordue et criarde, mais n'empiète pas sur les parties guitare. Cette caractéristique est étonnante, on se demande en premier lieu quel est ce bruit, avant de percuter que le bassiste ne fait pas juste joli dans le groupe. Le son est grand. Pas par sa densité, mais par son intelligence, son respect de l'essence du Hardcore, THE ARRS s'échappe du peloton des groupes « à la mode » pour tracer sa propre voie.
« Ennemis », ou mieux encore « Redemption », sont des exemples probants de ce que le combo aux paroles en français à décidé de produire. Un Hardcore rénové au groove imposant, même si l'on déplore la perte de l'effet « mur du son ». Le groupe tend plutôt du côté d'un ENTOMBED ou d'un TERROR plutôt que d'un HATESPHERE. A vous de juger selon vos préférences. Ce disque ravira sans doute les fans de Hardcore, qui apprécieront largement ce renouveau qui ne dénature pas leur style de prédilection. Les autres se rabattront sur la flopée d'artistes qui restent dans la mouvance actuelle, plus abordable, moins chargée de souvenirs d'huile de moteur. Ce second album pour THE ARRS marque certainement la fin de leur adolescence. Ils savent ce qu'ils veulent et ont trouvé leur propre équilibre, leur identité.
