Nombreux sont les artistes ayant composé et/ou enregistré sous l’emprise des drogues. Ici, la particularité est que c’est l’auditeur qui a l’impression d’en avoir pris ! Même à jeun, au saut du lit, tout clean et tout, t’écoute cette galette et hop, tu ne sais plus où t’es !
RTX est mené par Jennifer Herrema (ex ROYAL TRUX) et nous offre ici son second album. Le moins que l’on puisse dire c’est qu’il faut faire preuve d’une sacrée ouverture d’esprit pour se laisser porter par cette musique… étrange. Tout commence par une espèce de ballade acoustique accompagnée par de la flûte, qui nous replonge dans les créations psychédélique sous acide des années 70 (m’enfin ça dure quand même plus de 5 minutes !). Puis s’enchaînent des compositions plus classiques ayant pour base un Hard Rock early 80’s. Mais comme si on l’écoutait en étant bourré : un son à la fois proche et lointain (oui, je sais, c’est vague mais le style l’est tout autant !). Les instruments passent tous de second plan au premier et inversement, ce qui fait que des solos de guitares surgissent sans qu’on s’y attendent, puis on n’entend plus de guitare ; il en est de même avec le chant souvent à peine audible puis tout à coup très présent. Parlons-en du chant : archi-bourré d’effets spéciaux, on ne l’entend en clair que sur « Will Roll Right In » pour découvrir une sorte de Joan Jett en mal de mélodie.
On a aussi la surprise d’un intermède Thrash/Death dont on se demande bien ce qu’il vient foutre la dedans : « Wo-Wo Din » où quand LA GUNS fait un medley EXODUS/SUFFOCATION sur un quatre-pistes !
Le tout s’achève sur 7 minutes d’un passage psychédélico-chiant qui fera se pâmer d’émoi un tas de branleurs éduqués par les Inrockuptibles. Sinon, on est quand même content quand ça s’arrête.
