A l’écoute de cet album de GODDESS SHIVA, une question m’est venue à l’esprit : pourquoi ce nom ? Non parce qu’avec un nom pareil, on s’attend à un minium de sonorités orientales. En tous cas, c’est ce à quoi je m’attendais. Or, à part l’intro et l’outro, nada, peau de balle. Et c’est bien dommage. Parce les trois compères nous servent un Hard Rock des plus classiques sans autre originalité que l’époque à laquelle il le sorte. C’est vrai que cela fait bizarre de sortir une telle chose en 2007. D’un autre côté, c’est sûr que ce n’est pas pour faire comme tout le monde. Attention, je ne dis pas que les morceaux sont mauvais, mais il n’y a rien de bien nouveau sous le soleil teuton grâce à cet opus. Et pourtant, les trois lascars ont de quoi nous faire rêver avec leur CV. Dommage qu’ils n’en ont pas profité un peu.
On a donc des morceaux très classiques, mais sympas quand même. « Mind Of A Killer » est un pur produit Hard Rock old school. Simple, direct, efficace. Même « This Ain’t Love » et ses accents un peu kissien vous feront sûrement vibrer la première fois. Mais ces vibrations iront rapidement ailleurs, malheureusement. La surprise pourrait venir du blues « Barefoot And Naked », mais là encore, c’est du mille fois entendu. Il reste peut-être bien l’instrumentale « Ali Baba », qui est le morceau le plus surprenant du disque, selon moi. C’est ce genre de choses que j’aurai aimé entendre, avec des paroles en plus, et un peu plus de travail sur la guitare quelque peu brouillonne.
Donc oui, je suis déçu. Ce n’est pas parce que le groupe a fait ses débuts en 1977 qu’il ne fallait pas le faire évoluer pour la sortie de cet album. Surtout que c’est le premier ! Un peu de soin aurait été sympa. Parce que là, ça fleure pas bon la naphtaline à certains moments.
D’un autre côté, les ours mal léchés qui n’aiment pas les sorties actuelles et qui veulent encore gueuler « rock’n’roll » sur une bonne musique pourront savourer ce GODDESS SHIVA avec délectations. Les voisins peut-être moins… mais c’est une autre histoire.
