Les parrains du Hardcore made in New-York sont de retour avec l’explosif Warriors chez Nuclear Blast, second opus avec le label teuton après Another Voice. On ne va pas revenir sur la grande et riche histoire musicale qu’a connue le groupe au cours de ses 25 années de carrière, une aventure longue comme le siège de Troie et florissante en diverses péripéties. Une passion toujours restée intacte et vivace, en témoigne leurs tournées d’adieux et leurs éternels come-backs. N’en déplaise à certains mauvais esprits pensant le groupe fini et carbonisé, jetez donc une oreille à l’évocateur Warriors. Les gars de AGNOSTIC FRONT, en première ligne Roger Miret (chant) et Vinnie Stigma (guitares) ont le Hardcore dans le sang et ils ne pourront probablement pas s’arrêter.
Ce qui a de bien avec ce groupe, c’est que l’on sait toujours a peu près à quoi s’en tenir, mais c’est tellement bon, c’est comme AC/DC ou comme MOTORHEAD, pour tout fan de HxC qui se respecte, AGNOSTIC FRONT est une institution incontournable. En conséquence, ce dixième opus studio Warriors s’inscrit dans la lignée des And Justice For All et One Voice, deux de leurs albums cultes, les prémices du Metalcore avec de grosses dispositions aux riffs Thrashy. Les thèmes n’ont pas bougé d’un iota, AGNOSTIC FRONT crache toujours la même bile et la même hargne à la face du monde. Avec en plus une pochette typique Hardcore et en prime un croquis d’un “Léonidas” dément et ensanglanté, faut il y voir un message ? On peut effectivement en déduire que les vétérans reviennent plus fort que jamais et avec des compositions carrées, un album de Core tel qu’on les aime, une musique à laquelle on croit et pour laquelle on serait prêt à se lancer dans des bastons irréversibles.
On ingurgite les riffs de Vinnie Stigma sans broncher. La base rythmique apporte le punch et la solidité requise à quatorze titres sans fioriture et où le leitmotiv est le même durant cette grosse demi-heure de débauche d’énergie : on ravage tout sur notre passage. Inutile de s’attarder sur tel ou tel titre, c’est l’album dans son ensemble qui fonctionne aussi efficacement qu’une mine antipersonnel. Des titres comme «Warriors», «Change Your Ways» mode bastonneur ou encore la très remuante «Forgive Me Mother» montrent toute l’efficacité du combo New-Yorkais. Les gros tatoués Miret et Stigma accompagnés des frères Gallo prennent un malin plaisir à administrer leurs piqûres de rappel de Hardcore mobile et hardi.
L’enflammé Roger Miret et son chant si particulier, un mélange de rage éructée chantée avec les entrailles, nous invite dans son New York à lui pour y décrire les épreuves de la vie quotidienne et certains des dangers de la vie urbaine dans une mégalopole de la taille de la Grosse Pomme. La production perpétrée par Freddy Cricien, le petit frère de R.Miret et frontman des géniaux MADBALL rend à son tour hommage à l’envie déployée par le quintet. Un de leurs meilleurs albums sans concession, un album qui balance une détermination retrouvée. Le groupe restait sur certaines fausses notes avec ses dernières sorties discographiques, AGNOSTIC FRONT rectifie le tir. Une seconde carrière au rendez-vous se profilerait-elle ? C’est ce que l’on souhaite eu égard aux efforts fournis. Big up to AGNOSTIC FRONT.
