Si on nous avait signalé que AIRWAY était un groupe de Screamo italien, on n’y aurait pas cru une seconde. Car tout est fait pour que l’on pense que ce que tient entre les mains soit un pur un produit américain calibré comme il faut, de la pochette à la musique de jeunes en mal de sensation fortes, et bien évidemment les textes engagés des quatre compères. Pour les présenter comme il se doit, AIRWAY est un groupe italien de Screamo originaire de Trévise existant depuis 2005, et qui nous sort là son premier album officiel Faded Lights. Enregistré en 2006, le groupe a connu des divergences internes, raisons pour lesquelles l’album ne sort presque un an plus tard. Ne se démarquant en rien des groupes américains locomotives du genre tel que ALEXIS ON FIRE, les quatre italiens chantent en anglais et abreuvent de passages catchy et mélodiques leur Pop Punk hurlée à l’image des standards américains.
Tout est donc fin prêt pour que AIRWAY arrive à point nommé à envahir toute l’Europe avec leurs morceaux énervés et émouvants ! Juste pour la piqûre de rappel, le Screamo mélange l’Emo, le Punk et le Hardcore depuis le début des années 90. De cette manière, AIRWAY crée un patchwork musical, une partouze de style où il parvient à tirer son épingle du jeu et colle parfaitement avec les groupes du genre majoritaire aux Etats-Unis. Adoptant un chant clair de petit minet looké tecktonik couplé à des passages hurlés pour jouer le vénère, la recette n’est pas nouvelle mais elle fait mouche tout au long de leurs dix titres. La production très correcte n’a en plus rien à envier aux groupes américains et peut leur tenir la dragée haute tant le niveau dans le style est notable. AIRWAY propose un album varié et aéré, où mélodies suaves et musclées se côtoient intelligemment. Du single pouvant passer en boucle sur les ondes comme «My Revenge» ou à la très Punk Rock «Paralyzed» en passant par la Heavy «Sinkin’ Down» et la ballade pour adolescents en mal d’amour «Faded Lights», AIRWAY délivre dans le style un album ultra carré, homogène et harmonieux. En somme, on ne peut pas leur reprocher de bien faire leur boulot, après que l’on aime ou pas, cela relève du choix de tout un chacun. Certains titres sont bougrement efficaces comme «Find It All» ou «Get On The Dancefloor».
Bien entendu, pour avoir le plus d’impartialité possible, le style ne me correspondant pas directement, on ne peut pas leur reprocher de faire mal ce qu’ils font mais cet album est bien recommandable aux vrais amateurs de Screamo. Ce groupe AIRWAY montre sur ce premier opus qu’ils sont doués. Encourageons-les… Bravissimo AIRWAY !!
