Alors que certains se vantent d’avoir laissé passer la vague Neo Metal, persuadés qu’ils sont qu’elle est déjà morte, d’autres essayent de lui donner un second souffle. Beaucoup échoue à cet exercice, il faut bien le dire, et ne savent que nous servir du réchauffé, et encore souvent pas très frais limite qui pue des pieds. Pour ELEMENT, il s’agit de prendre une base Neo Metal affirmée et d’y ajouter des petites touches personnelles, petites touches qui donnent tout l’attrait à leur musique. Parce qu’il faut être honnête, une fois qu’on a commencé à écouter Nos Corps Perdus, il est difficile de décrocher avant la fin. Les riffs incisifs de Marc et Seb, le chant multifonction de Yohan, la batterie de Arno sont autant d’éléments (non, cherchez pas, il n’y a pas de jeu de mots) qui nous poussent à aller plus loin dans l’écoute. Et on en ressort juste avec l’envie de recommencer sans attendre.
Il faut bien dire que les membres du groupe savent comment s’y prendre pour composer des morceaux qui font vibrer. Entre puissance, violence et mélodie, ils savent trouver le juste milieu pour que les plus hargneux s’y retrouvent en même temps que ceux qui préfèrent quelque chose de plus douillet. Le titre « L’orage » illustre parfaitement cela avec ses couplets sur une base guitare/basse/batterie monotone, puissante et syncopée et plein de hargne et des refrains beaucoup plus softs. Le chant y est toujours saturé mais pas hurlé. Un peu comme quand Reuno de LOFOFORA ne beugle pas mais utilise son timbre si singulier. Eh bien, Yohan m’a fait à lui dans sa manière de chanter. Pas sur tous les morceaux, j’ai bien dit qu’il était multifonction cet homme, mais sur pas mal de passages ; et dans la version la plus impressionnante de Reuno. Pour le reste, on retrouve quelques samples ça et là, mais ils sont souvent là pour amener la suite. J’aurai pour ma part préféré les voir un peu plus en avant, mais c’est aussi là ELEMENT, ne pas se cantonner à ce que l’on pourrait attendre de leur style de musique, justement.
ELEMENT a vraiment tout pour réussir et nous faire vibrer aussi bien dus disque qu’en concert. A eux de manier leurs atouts avec intelligence.
