Ils sont polonais, ils ont 20 ans de métier et font du Brutal Death Metal Technique, ça ne vous rappelle rien ? Eh non, ce n’est pas VADER, c’est TRAUMA. Ayant débuté sous le pseudonyme de THATANOS (et à l’époque dans un registre beaucoup plus Thrash), TRAUMA n’a aujourd’hui, plus rien à prouver. Car 20 ans d’activité, ça vous forge une carrière. Et celle de ce combo regorge de merveilles comme cet Imperfect Like A God.
Commençons par le commencement. On a affaire là à une jaquette très bien pensée sur laquelle gît un corps recouvert d’un drap éclaboussé de sang. L’allusion est vite établie. Sous le drap, un carnage. Et cette déduction se retrouve bien vite confirmée.
Dès les premières notes, en effet, on est fixé. Ici, point de doucereux effets faits pour déstabiliser l’auditeur sur le choix du disque, ça tabasse sec. Mais à la différence de ses compères musicaux, TRAUMA arrive sans trop de complexité à varier son jeu. Les titres s’enchaînent étonnamment de manière naturelle sans jamais lasser et c’est ce qui rend sans conteste cet album fort agréable. La voix gutturale se marie à merveille avec le jeu de batterie, très speed mais capable de passages en mid-tempo. Concernant les cordes, il n’y a pas grand-chose à redire si ce n’est que l’osmose instrumentale est quasi-parfaite. Les rares solos pouvant tirer sur le Heavy sont très vite rattrapés par les quelques influences Thrash restantes de leurs débuts. Il arrive même d’entendre ça et là un passage très « groove ». Et c’est ce qui rend au final cet album assez ambigu et accessible.
S’il est clair qu’Imperfect Like A God ne révolutionne rien, il aura au moins le mérite de faire passer un très agréable moment en sortant des sentiers battus. Et c’est bien là l’essentiel.
