HEAVENLESS est un groupe yvelinois, de Maurepas, pour être plus précis. Formé en 2001, le groupe sort sa deuxième démo, The Red Light, avant la sortie de son album, prévue très prochainement. Le mélange que les membres proposent, diverses influences Metal associées à un chant féminin, aurait pu être très accrocheur, mais certaines choses pèchent encore sur cette démo pour qu’on adhère vraiment à leur musique.
Tout d’abord, sur « One Another », on a des riffs très typés Hardcore qui, même s’ils ne sont pas de la plus grande originalité, démontent bien. Par contre, la voix de Nadia ne colle pas dessus et les calme beaucoup trop. On aurait espéré qu’elle s’écorche un peu plus sur ce genre de passages pour donner une nouvelle puissance au morceau. Nadia a une belle voix, on ne peut dire le contraire, mais soit elle doit s’adapter à la musique soit la musique doit s’adapter à elle. Le mélange tel qu’il est présenté ne cadre pas. Quand la musique se fait plus calme, tout rentre dans l’ordre. Une autre chose empêche de rentrer dans ce morceau : les pains. En effet, que ce soit au niveau de la guitare ou de la batterie, des approximations flagrantes perturbent l’écoute. Quand s’ajoute un manque de synchronisation des musiciens, cela devient dérangeant.
Pour ce qui est de « Nowhere » et « Inner Spheres », les choses rentrent un peu plus dans l’ordre (moins de pains, une voix plus en harmonie avec la musique). De bonnes idées s’y trouvent même avec des chœurs originaux en arrière plan « Nowhere ». C’est dans ce sens que le groupe devrait poursuivre son chemin. Parce qu’avec une production à la hauteur, ce morceau serait vraiment intéressant. Je ne comparerai pas la voix de Nadia avec des chanteuses de renom existantes. Je trouve qu’elle a un timbre très sensible qui procure de fortes émotions durant l’écoute. Il faut que les morceaux aillent dans ce sens pour qu’elle puisse s’exprimer au mieux, quitte à faire plus de passages musicaux si le groupe veut poursuivre dans son melting pot.
HEAVENLESS est un groupe qui, à mon sens, possède un potentiel qui ne demande encore qu’à s’exprimer. Il faut juste qu’il sache tenir compte de ses atouts et de ses limitations pour l’exploiter au maximum.
