Formé en 2003 par deux ex-membres de DUNKELFRONT, INFESTUS sort via le label français Debemur Morti Productions, son second album Chroniken des Ablebens. Oui rien en lisant ce titre d’album, rauque et grattant, je confirme qu’il s’agit bien d’un groupe, enfin d’un duo allemand officiant dans le monde obscur du Black Metal ! Voilà une évidence qui se confirme, l’Allemagne n’a plus rien à envier aux pays scandinaves : avec SECRETS OF THE MOON, NYKTALGIA, HELRUNAR, STERBEND, BROCKEN MOON (et j’en oublie plein d’autres) et donc INFESTUS, la quantité est au même niveau que la qualité !
Dans la musique du duo, on retrouve évidement la rigueur germanique, mais aussi des ambiances sombres et ombrageuses, des atmosphères occultes et froides, sans systématiquement s’abandonner aux blasts furieux. Sur cette offrande, le Black Metal froid et sinistre de INFESTUS est découpé en trois chapitres pour un total de sept titres. Cette musique typiquement Black traditionnel, comporte ses touches de bonheur (!) des passages acoustiques, des moments malsains et maladifs, d’autres directement plus heavy (le début de « Des Untergangs Untertan »), ce qui fait qu’à l’écoute de ce Chroniken des Ablebens, j’ai l’impression d’écouter à la fois IMMORTAL, WATAIN, DISSECTION ou encore SECRETS OF THE MOON ! Mais ce qui fait la force de cet opus c’est que INFESTUS propose son propre univers malgré ses influences évidentes, où les subtiles mélodies renforcent la mélancolie des atmosphères variées. Un exemple est le somptueux « Entering Eternal Oblivion » qui mets tous les sens de l’auditeur en éveille pour le faire plonger dans les profondeurs obscures de l’album… Si cela ne suffisait pas, « Manifesto Invidiae » titre tranchant comme une lame de rasoir grâce à un chant criard et désespéré, puis des breaks subtiles glaçant le sang, il achève tout reste d’espoirs qui pouvaient encore exister et qui en fait le titre incontournable de cet album.
Doté d’un son et d’une production « comme à la maison » tout à fait correct qui se veut à la fois gras, vibrant, gardant un peu de chaleur malgré la froideur des compositions, Chroniken des Ablebens ne doit pas passer inaperçu. Vous l’avez donc compris, INFESTUS est un groupe à surveiller de prêt, de très prêt, car s’il confirme, il est sûrement une des valeurs sûr de demain !
