Il est toujours très bizarre de chroniquer l’album d’un groupe sorti il y a quelques années, surtout après avoir fait la review de leur petit dernier il n’y a pas si longtemps que ça.
C’est comme si le film de leur vie défilait à l’envers, et si après les avoir connus adultes, on les retrouvait enfants, balbutiant leur langage, tout en portant en eux les caractéristiques qui feront d’eux des hommes.
Après Destination Nulle Part, me voilà donc en train de parler de Introducing Pure Violence, qui date de 2002, et qui sans être radicalement différent de leur plus récente offrande, se situe quand même en amont, niveau inspiration et originalité.
On retrouve donc bien des ingrédients inhérents à la formation parisienne, tout d’abord le style bien sur, ce Death-Metal furieux et sans compromis, mais aussi toutes les compétences des membres qui le composent, et qui ne se sont pas retrouvés autour d’un style extrême par hasard, mais bien par goût.
Nous n’avions donc pas affaire alors à des manchots incapables de composer et de jouer correctement, mais bien des amoureux d’un genre qui ne supporte ni l’approximation, ni la médiocrité.
Alors bien sur, les années ont apporté la sagesse, et le groupe est maintenant bien plus à l’aise avec sa musique, qui, il y a 6 ans, restait quand même dans les pistes balisées, et proposait un classicisme de situation.
Les compos étaient alors toutes basées sur l’agression, et la voix restait dans un registre assez sourd, proche d’un IMMOLATION, ou d’un MORBID ANGEL primitif.
Le groupe était encore jeune, et on peut lui pardonner un manque d’initiative, assez bien comblé par une fraîcheur bienvenue, et un enthousiasme sans limites. Il est vrai que la vitesse d’exécution était assez primordiale, et peu d’arrangements, en dehors d’une intro et d’une outro somme toute assez classiques elles aussi, ne venaient aérer l’ensemble.
Un album à prendre comme un bloc, en n’y voyant qu’un brouillon tout de même bien structuré, annonciateur d’une maturité qui n’allait pas tarder à venir.
Mais si votre vœu le plus cher est de vous éclater sur un Death barbare et sans concessions, Introducing Pure Violence est pour vous, comme ont pu l’être les premières œuvres de MASSACRA ou AGGRESSOR à l’époque !
