Bon sang que ça doit être difficile de choisir un nom de groupe sans provoquer l'hilarité générale, les interrogations multiples ou les pensées les plus déplacées. Parce que SARALEE, entre nous, si ça fait pas actrice de boular (et oui un bon film à suspense c'est un polar, un bon film de boules, c'est un boular, point barre, et ça rime en plus ...), franchement ..... après les Devon Lee, Sara Jay, Ginger Lynn, voici venue SARALEE la Reine du Double Anal qui aime avoir le cul entre deux .... chaises ...........
Bon, sans blague maintenant. Pourquoi le cul entre deux chaises ? Je vais vous expliquer ça ...
Rappelons dans un premier temps que SARALEE, comme son nom ne l'indique pas, est un combo finlandais, mené par Joonas (chant), Juha (guitares), Saurus (basse), Arzka (guitares et claviers) et Clansman (batterie). Après un EP (Dance en 2005), un premier album (Darkness Between en 2006), et un split-CD (en 2007 avec GOTHAM O.D et VELVET CUT), SARALEE revient aujourd'hui avec Damnation To Salvation.
Alors si je vous dis Finlande + Gothique musclé, vous me répondez ? SINAMORE ? SENTENCED ? TO/DIE/FOR ? POISONBLACK ? Gagné !!! Effectivement SARALEE pompe (oh là là voilà que ça recommence les allusions douteuses ...) quelque peu le Noir Poison, notamment celui de A Dead Heavy Day, la voix éraillée de Ville Laihiala en moins ... Reste que si ça donne un mélancolique "Rescue Me" de qualité ou une ballade nommée "Crimson Sky" avec une superbe mélodie au piano, pourquoi pas ? SARALEE tient les tubes de sa future set-list en concert, ce Heavy Gothique là procure bien des émotions. Vraiment, ce "Rescue Me" m'a quelque peu bouleversé. C'est beau, c'est tout.
Maintenant 2 super titres ça ne suffit pas à faire un super album, surtout quand des "Remains Of Carmen" ou "Forsaken" tournent en rond. Attention sur ce genre de compos trop répétitives, l'ennuie guette ... Inconsciemment ou pas, SARALEE s'éloigne de son terrain de prédilection pour tenter des ouvertures hasardeuses vers le Metal mélodique plus speedé (l'accélération de "Turning Point", voire ce "Catch The Moon" où on ne reconnaît vraiment plus du tout la bande à Joonas). Parfois même, certains passages comme le refrain maladroit de "Scars" passeraient pour du sous-SOUNDGARDEN ou du QUEENSRYCHE époque Hear In The Now Frontier. Maladroit, voilà c'est ça. Et maladroit tout en ayant le cul entre deux chaises, c'est limite dangereux ...
Disons que Damnation To Salvation n'est pas un mauvais album, ni un ultime chef d'oeuvre d'ailleurs.
On le qualifiera en toute simplicité d'album "maladroit".
