Anne et Mathilde sont deux sœurs jumelles que les parents ont envoyées dans un pensionnat. Afin de diminuer la distance qui les sépare, ils leur ont confié une boite à musique. Avec sa ballerine en tutu et sa musique simple mais envoutante, les filles peuvent se sentir plus près de leur maison. Elle est même devenu leur secret, leur jeu, leur lien. Un drame va survenir et seule une des jeunes filles va survivre. C’est alors l’heure de la douleur, de la peur, de la colère pour la survivante qui ne voit pas comment elle va pouvoir continuer dans ce monde qui lui semble à présent sans saveur, terrifiant et tellement froid.
Mais de quoi nous parle-t-il ? Il a fumé la moquette ? Non. The Sweet Melody Of Resilience est le premier album du groupe MYHYBRIS. C’est un concept album essentiellement musical qui repose sur une histoire que l’on retrouve dans le livret du CD et que j’ai très succinctement résumée ici. Certains parleront d’une démo, puisque l’on a que quatre véritables morceaux ainsi que quatre plages de transition (qui incluent l’introduction et la conclusion de l’histoire). Cependant, malgré cela et la courte durée de ce disque, je préfère parler d’album. La qualité de la production et de la présentation, le professionnalisme avec lequel ce disque a été fait me font pencher vers cette appellation.
Mais au niveau de la musique, cela donne quoi ? Eh bien c’est du Rock Progressif à forte tendance Atmosphérique et qui lorgne parfois franchement vers le Metal en ce qui concerne la puissance. D’ailleurs, la première impression est plus Metal que Rock, mais les compositions, les ambiances sont clairement plus Rock dans l’ensemble. Donc, outre quelques voix en second plan, la majorité des morceaux est instrumentale. Seul « The Sweet Melody Of Resilience » se permet une voix, ainsi qu’un saxophone. Commençons par ce titre. Personnellement, c’est celui qui m’a le moins parlé. Pas à cause du chant. La voix d’Amélie Festa est sublime. Seulement le morceau en lui-même est un peu trop simple et linéaire par rapport au reste. Il aurait pu offrir les mêmes émotions qu’actuellement sans pour autant briser le rythme de l’album. Mais comme vous pouvez le constater avec ma note, ce n’est pas une chose rédhibitoire. Les autres morceaux, par contre, sont tout simplement géniaux. Effectivement, cela change souvent de rythme, d’ambiance, de direction pendant le même titre. Mais on n’est jamais largué, au contraire, on suit avec enthousiasme ces modifications. Et puis, on n’y va pas avec sa tête dans ce The Sweet Melody Of Resilience ; c’est le cœur qui écoute et qui parle par la suite. Je dois dire que le refrain enfantin de « Children’s Games » m’a tout de suite transporté. A partir de là, j’étais conquis. Les plages de synthé, l’utilisation de percussions, la guitare et la basse qui savent se faire soit volubiles soit plus linéaires et monotones pour poser les bonnes ambiances (« The Pursuit »), voilà autant d’éléments qui ne m’ont pas laissé de marbre. Même les plages intermédiaires sont intéressantes, l’« Outro » ayant ma préférence.
Vous l’aurez compris, MYHYBRIS possède maintenant une carte de visite en bêton. J’ai hâte de découvrir la suite de leur aventure… vraiment hâte.
