Bon si ce troisième album d’ACID DRINKERS intitulé Strip Tease est aussi glauque que l’émission de beaufs du même nom, on n’est alors pas sorti de l’auberge. Surtout que niveau qualité, ce groupe n’est pas à jeter à la poubelle et ne fait pas partie des groupes non dénués d’intérêt. Juste une propension à faire des pochettes un peu dégueulasses… de l’indissociabilité du fond et la forme…
Concluant et faisant le spectacle, ACID DRINKERS a acquis au fil des années une solide expérience et notoriété en Pologne. Inspiré et non conventionnel, s’écartant des sentiers battus alors qu’en ce début d’années 90 il sera de notoriété publique que le Metal en général se verra supplanté par un nouveau genre, le Grunge. C’est donc une petite réussite pour ce groupe de se maintenir en vie et de remplir des salles et d’attirer les foules.
Cela n’empêcha en rien ACID DRINKERS de toujours exercer leur Thrash atypique et décontenançant en ajoutant cette fois-ci des touches de Rock Alternatif. Toujours aussi aventureux dans leurs compositions et à l’aise, le combo s’illustre encore avec deux reprises avec «Seek and Destroy» de METALLICA, une cover complètement déjantée et destroy, et les MONTHY PYTHON avec «Menel Song / Always Look On The Bright Side Of Life». Niveau humour et causticité, on a rarement vu mieux.
Le kitsch peut, à contrario, également porter préjudice à un combo qui peut mal être perçu et incompris, i.e. une majorité de personnes peuvent penser que le combo accentue son univers uniquement sur leur facette «humour» en délaissant la qualité de leurs orchestrations. Il n’en sera rien. A cette date là, cela fait deux albums qu’ACID DRINKERS a prouvé tout son potentiel. Des titres phares tels que«Strip Tease» ou «King Kong Bless You» en passant par «Blood is Boiling», cet opus offre encore son lot de surprises. Dire que le groupe avait en projet de faire une reprise de «Black Magic» de SLAYER en version Reggae montre à quel point le groupe ne s’embarrasse pas avec des limites. Leur sens de la musique allié à un style féroce dévoilent encore une fois les dispositions techniques du groupe. Sous leurs faux airs de branleurs à la ELMER FOOD BEAT en moins graveleux, ACID DRINKERS reste un combo à part qui mérite le bien que l’on dit d’eux ! Le meilleur reste à venir mais cela reste une autre histoire. Un groupe avec une telle longévité force le respect. Véloces, agressifs et provoquant, le style ACID DRINKERS ne laisse pas indifférent.
