Comme happée dans une autre dimension, « Ascending » nous pousse hypnotiquement dans l’univers de BEYOND THE DUST. New Dawn dégage les aspects intimes de la matrice du combo français.
Cet utérus mutant va enfanter six bébés ô combien sordides et magnétiques. Même si la durée de vie du premier (« Ascending ») sera brève, elle déploiera à elle seule le climat dans lequel baigne chacun de ses petits frères. Et c’est à en frémir.
Le second, pas moins tenace mais plus résistant, se battra corps et âme pour sa survie. Jed et Anthony D. (chant) y donneront le ton révélant sans discrétion la personnalité du désaxé qui sommeille dans ce monstre de l’Hexagone. La gratte y est férue et s’allie à des percussions lancinantes lestant avec plaisir le trop-plein de bourrinage parfois exagéré dans le genre. Preuve d’une belle maîtrise et d’un juste dosage.
Ce qui est bluffant c’est qu’en dehors du fait que leur compo nous arrive droit en pleine tronche tel un uppercut, il sait également se raviser et nous caresser dans le sens du poil lors de solos de qualité.
Tout au long de mon écoute, j’ai imaginé aisément des paysages complètement surnaturels empruntés aux sciences-fictions les plus gores de mon inconscient que je m’abstiendrais d’ailleurs de vous conter si toutefois vous lisez cette chronique à l’heure du déjeuner. La musicalité du jeune sextet pulvérisera de noirceur et d’angoisse l’audition de quiconque n’est pas averti.
Sorti le jour de la St Valentin, en voilà un joli cadeau original pour choupette. Quelle femme n’a pas rêvé d’être surprise hein ? Il aurait en tout cas eu l’audace de la secouer un peu, mais certes, nous ne sommes pas toutes dans le même délire.
Un bémol tout de même à tout ça, c’est trop court ! Normal me direz-vous c’est un EP et alors ? Vous aussi vous allez gueuler : encore. Loin de moi l’idée de les mettre au défi puisqu’il semblerait que d’après des appartenances à d’autres groupes pour certains d’entre eux, les preuves ne soient plus à faire. Or, à la fin de la galette, on se sent frustré comme après de sulfureux ébats se terminant si près de l’orgasme.
