Non je ne suis pas chauvine alors j’interdis quiconque d’oser le prétendre car quand bien même SYSTR est un groupe Nantais ce n’est absolument pas pour cette raison que j’ai souhaité parler de leur album Gazole. J’ai parcouru de façon aléatoire leurs épreuves sur un site web et ce n’est que lorsque j’ai reçu leur album avec une petite biographie que j’ai découvert leur origine non sans surprise, bref.
J’ai aimé dans un premier temps ce son Indus voir Electro puis dans un second temps ce son Electro voir Indus. Aucune différence me direz-vous et bien c’est que vous n’avez pas eu la subtilité de repérer l’ordre dans lequel j’ai cité les genres. Et oui toute la différence est là. Par quoi on commence alors ? Et bien par le début « Gazole » et là on est propulsé dans une rave ou c’est alors la Metalleux Pride ! Démarrage sur des sampleurs électroniques où l’on imagine aisément ces drôles de petits hommes accoutrés de combinaison ultra moulante fluo sauf que ça ne dure que quelques secondes avant que n’explose une gratte nerveuse à la MASS HYSTERIA. A l’excès peut-être le titre suivant s’entamera bien plus que son prédécesseur de manière synthétique et là on ne saura plus vraiment à quel genre on a à faire. La voilà la différence justement, démarrer dans un registre complètement à l’ouest (44) du Metal pour finir par dévoiler ses attraits les plus Rock. Ou alors balancer son électricité d’entrée de jeu avant de s’évaporer en claviers : « Superheroes ».
« Protect Your Horizons » : ah le bel adage à l’heure où l’écologie et la protection de la planète prennent une place prépondérante. Ils mettent leurs tripes au service de la noble cause et on savourera une propagande mêlant le chant clair et le chant …… comment il s’appelle celui-là d’ailleurs, électro, robotisé, etc … peut importe on a ici encore une belle mixture de genre qui fait de chaque morceau un mets facilement digeste et malgré un manque de férocité dans l’ensemble de l’œuvre ils atteignent une originalité dans les compositions en puissant dans la subtilité d’une ambiance majoritairement AWARE comme nous le dirait si bien monsieur gros muscles (JCVD). Pas de méprise quand même, il s’agit ici d’une remarque positive pour mettre en avant le plaisir nébuleux qui émerge par exemple du planant « All Given Words ».
Gazole manquera malgré tout de hargne et de lourdeur en usant d’une rythmique trop linéaire. Les titres se suivent et se ressemblent certes, mais non sans plaisir.
Je me suis tourmenté un moment en me demandant à qui ils pouvaient bien me faire penser et je n’ai toujours pas la réponse à cette question. Peut-être tout simplement parce qu’ils ont à eux seuls des traits identiques à divers combos : KMFDM, SYBREED, HANZEL UND GRETYL et j’en passe. Il restera à mon sens un album plaisant essentiellement aux amateurs de nouvelles technologies, un peu moins aux fervents admirateurs de Metal Indus pur et dure. Mais pour finir je soulignerais tout de même l’éclectisme savamment mis en scène par les Nantais.
