J’ai deux bonnes nouvelles à vous annoncer : je tiens l’album du mois, et il vient d’un groupe Français.
X-VISION, c’est tout simplement une baffe. Et comme ils sont généreux, ils nous en collent une sur chaque joue !
Time Of… est un recueil de titres puissants, rapides, bénéficiant d’un son énorme. On se prend le dynamisme des morceaux en pleine poire et on en redemande. L’abondance de riffs musclés est un plaisir jouissif que le combo maîtrise parfaitement et qui est encore renforcé par ce chant hargneux qui reste dans nos oreilles même lorsque le disque s’arrête.
On peut sentir les influences de MACHINE HEAD, de SEPULTURA ou encore, moins distinctement, de CLAWFINGER. Que du bon, je vous l’avais bien dit. Mais ne vous imaginez pas que X-VISION se contente de répéter une leçon bien apprise ; si les influences sont là, elles n’effacent pas un réel travail de composition très aboutit.
La présence d’un DJ ne doit pas effrayer les intransigeants : les samples sont rares et bien amenés. Ils complètent les compos en évitant le piège du rajout à la mode. En aucun cas l’énergie du groupe ne s’en trouve édulcorée.
Côté paroles, c’est moins brillant : « oh la vilaine société de consommation », « oh les méchants média », etc. Mais puisque c’est chanté dans la langue de l’impérialisme et que Pierre Pauly (le chanteur) était un peu en colère lors de l’enregistrement, vous ne comprendrez pas grand chose sans le livret.
Ah, parlons-en du livret ! Certains grincheux pourront toujours dénigrer son design architectural très froid (façon land art), il reste qu’on ne peut que rester admiratif devant l’effort que le groupe a fait en sortant un vrai digipack de qualité. Les gars de X-VISION ont cassé leur tirelire pour nous combler.
C’est leur premier album et ils donnent déjà des leçons à bien des grands groupes !
