J'ai du mal à comprendre pourquoi des labels qui nous demandent de chroniquer des disques qui n'ont rien à voir, de près ou de loin, avec le Metal. C'est pas comme si la scène était pas active et prolifique. Nous voila donc réunis avec VANTH, un groupe italien de Synth Rock, très Electro, qui a enregistré son méfait entre 2012 et 2013. Cet opus a été remixé par le label et édité en janvier 2014 et le voici.
VANTH se présente comme un projet musical qui mixe le meilleur du Rock, de la Pop et de l'Electro avec des résultats imprévisibles. Avec de tels ingrédients dans le mixer, ce qu'on peut prévoir c'est que le résultat ne sera pas du Metal !
Et bien sûr, une écoute du méfait confirme que c'est bien autre chose. Le premier morceau, "Let Me live", j'ai cru que j'écoutais un remix dancefloor de la chanson titre. Mais non, les autres tracks m'ont vite confirmé que j'avais bel et bien affaire à la production courante de VANTH.
Projet solo fondé en 2006 par Ace (lead vocals, programmation et guitare), VANTH s'élargit en 2010 avec un bassiste (Lou) et un batteur (Nyar). En 2011 c'est un guitariste (Walter) qui vient compléter le gang.
Alors voila, le son de ce groupe repose sur des couches épaisses de synthé, du sampler à la pelle, un peu de boite à rythme. Là-dessus viennent se poser des section plus Rock Pop que Metal à base de basse, batterie et guitare, mais tellement noyés derrière le mur électronique, que çà en devient anecdotique. Le chant de Ace n'est pas désagréable les paroles variant de la banalité affligeante à une certaine profondeur philosophique qu'on doit capter avec le temps. Il faut dire que son accent anglais très scolaire accentue l'impression que les paroles sont simplettes.
La production est propre mais on n'en attend pas moins du label qui a remixé la galette avant de la distribuer. Au final Future Overdrive est peut-être un bon disque dans son genre, mais pas dans le genre qu'on aime chez Metal Impact et je ne le recommanderai à aucun fan de Metal.
