La déconnade. La grosse branlette comique. A base de grimace outrancières dans les clips, de doigts d'honneur et de culs exhibés, de gros plans sur des merguez qui grillent et de poses badass mais pour rigoler. Tout cela c'est permis à condition de sortir de la grosse zique qui ramone les portugaises. Parce que la grosse déconne qui cache juste du vide, c'est bon pour la fête de l'école ou les radios crochets. Et ça, les normands de WINFIELD l'ont bien compris. Parce c'est pas les derniers à multiplier les conneries dans leurs apparitions, leurs clips ou leur page facebook. Mais quand le quatuor monte sur scène. Quand les mecs prennent les manches, les baguettes et le micro, ça ne rigole plus. Ou bien, si ça rigole toujours, mais ce qui sort des enceintes, c'est du pur bon Hard Rock des familles pour lequel on n'a envie de dire qu'une chose. Respect les gars.
BBQ Sausage Party, c'est déjà le quatrième opus du combo fondé en 2009 à Caen. Il y a de l'inspiration yankee dans cette galette. L'EP propose six pistes qui sentent bon la poussière, la sciure de bois et la bière renversée sur le sol du saloon. Six pistes qui distillent un Hard Rock bien senti et costaud, un peu Southern Rock, un brin redneck. Voila un bon Metal bien puissant. Des guitares qui ronflent joliment, une batterie qui claque gentiment et un chant tout ce qu'il y a de plus maîtrise. Classique mais efficace. Le disque a beau être autoproduit, le groupe a mis le paquet sur l'enregistrement, le mixage, la prod et le mastering... et ça s'entend. Le rendu est soigné, bien détouré. Les chansons attaquent franco de port, sans fioritures, ça tape tout de suite dans le dur avec des intros catchy, des riffs qui font mouche, de bons petits soli pour faire le pont sur chaque morceaux. Un ensemble dynamique et péchu.
Mais la piste la plus marquante de la galette est également la plus atypique "The Reverend" est une complainte bluesy très Mississippi style. Un tempo lent, un riff rond comme un verre de Jack Daniels, une échappée de guitare groovy en diable qui dialogue avec le chant avant d'exploser dans un solo épique avant de laisser le chant monter comme une complainte, un cri... voila une belle expérience dont je ne suis pas encore revenu.
Le seul petit problème avec les gros délires de potes, c'est quand on ne sait pas s'arrêter à temps. Et des fautes de goût, il y en a deux sur ce disque. D'abord cet abominable rot qui ne sert strictement à rien en ouverture de "The Great Monstercock Trucker". Ensuite cette outro reprenant le thème de "My Heart Will Go On" de Céline Dion... On ne voit pas ce que ça vient faire là, ça n'apporte rien, ça ne sert à rien, c'est juste une bouffonnerie, mais qui ne sert à rien.
Ce dérapage évitable mis à part, il n'y a que du bon dans BBQ Sausage Party et une fois déroulé ce bon petit EP, on a envie de reprendre une tournée de saucisse avec une petite bière.
