Si la démo Les ombres de quatre murs avait été saluée par la critique et avait séduit le petit monde du Metal, c’est avec ce premier album Intramedia que les Français d’Aquilon s’affirment réellement comme l’un des nouveaux espoirs de la scène française. Le premier élément important qui fait de cet album une réussite est sa grande originalité : Aquilon œuvre dans un Dark/Death Metal alambiqué et expérimental, mais accrocheur de par sa richesse et la qualité de ses mélodies. Cette originalité s’exprime tout d’abord dans le chant, que se partagent un chanteur dont la voix oscille entre chant Death et chant clair, et une chanteuse à la voix typée gotique. L’originalité de cet album est aussi due en grande partie aux claviers omniprésents mais jamais de trop qui viennent se greffer à la rythmique péchue et donnent une profondeur et une atmosphère particulière aux compositions. Il en résulte des morceaux variés aux paroles intelligentes où se mélangent les styles et qui ne révèlent leur véritable saveur qu’après de nombreuses écoutes.
Intramedia est donc un album très convaincant, révélateur d’un grand talent de composition et d’arrangement où tout amateur de Metal original trouvera son compte.
