Crée en janvier 2002, la bande composée de six membres originaire de Montréal pratique un Deathcore pur jus : attitude bourrine de mise, production efficace et « kick-in-the-face » (bosser avec Century Media, cela aide un peu !). A souligner également le bon niveau des zicos, c’est toujours un plus non négligeable !
J’ai toujours eu beaucoup de respect pour les groupes novateurs et expérimentaux qui osaient ou osent mélanger les styles de Metal les plus divers et variés : je pense de ce fait au Crossover, à la Fusion, au Black/Death, ou Techno/Death et j’en passe et des meilleurs…
Malheureusement ici, la mayonnaise ne prend pas. Il manque un petit quelque chose qui fait que cet album, ni bon ni mauvais soit-il, fera inéluctablement parti de la longue liste des albums de Deathcore archi-rabâchée.
Et oui, on a la désagréable sensation d’assister à une sorte de concours de vitesse sur tous les plans, l’abus de changements de rythmes font que l’on ne s’y retrouve plus tellement ! Il manque un fil conducteur tout au long de l’album ce qui donne l’impression d’écouter le même titre !
Dans un genre où les lyrics et les divers modes de chants ont une place prépondérante dans la qualité des chansons, ici, les growls frisent le ridicule ! Habitué à entendre des grognements et autres vociférations, je veux bien que les parties vocales ne soient pas trop audibles ni compréhensibles, or, je ne sais pas de quelle école de chant il sort l’animal, sans doute de la Caverne Academy !
L’ensemble devient très vite lassant malgré la présence de 9 titres! Mais je vous assure, le temps n’a pas prise avec cet album car 30 minutes, c’est généralement cours pour un skeud de Metal, mais ici, c’est vraiment long, très long !
A conseiller à tous ceux qui n’accrochent pas le Deathcore, cela ne fera que les conforter dans leur idée.
