Trivium, groupe de jeunes américains ayant à peine la majorité, bouscule tout le monde et nous présente ici leur deuxième album qui en veut et qui en a. Autant le dire tout de suite, plus que les compositions, c'est le son qui se remarque en premier lieu. En effet, la production signée Jason Suecof (Monstrosity, Capharnaum...) et le mixage Andy Sneap (ex Sabbat) sont d'une efficacité monstrueuse mais malheureusement très aseptisée. Le combo pratique un Metalcore s'appuyant sur des bases Thrash/Heavy avec un chant qui oscille entre abrasif et claire (plus que jamais!). On déplorera la quasi disparition du petit côté cradingue avec cette once de folie qui était présent dans leur premier album "Ember To Inferno" disparu au profit d'une musique plus calculée et popisante partie à la conquête du monde.
Il n'y a rien à redire sur la technicité des musiciens non plus car elle est également de bonne facture. Un bon album donc mais qui ne m'a pas convaincu car il manque le petit plus qui fait toute la différence... Par contre, en live, cela doit bien le faire comme disent les djeuns.
