Agents Of Man, les petits frères de Agent Steel ? George le chanteur d’Agents Of Man serait-il le successeur de John Cyrus, frontman légendaire d’Agent Steel durant leur apogée dans les années 80 ?
Non, non, tout cela n’est que pure fantaisie car le quintette originaire du New Jersey est bien ancrée dans l’air du temps avec son Hardcore satiné et délicat, teinté de mélodies finement ciselées !
Fort d’un premier EP paru en 2001, Les Agents de l’homme délivrent en cette année leur premier album sorti chez Century Media.
Avec ses musiciens ayant officié dans diverses formations Hardcore inconnues au bataillon, on sent les influences bien mises en avant, avec par exemple la piste 2 “No Tomorrow” et son riff agressif lors du couplet qui nous rappelle indubitablement Merauder. C’est bien exécuté, mais Merauder, c’est quand même mieux !
Bien évidemment, l’assise rythmique carrée est présente comme tout groupe de Hardcore qui se respecte !
Cependant, on atteint des sommets du risible avec des titres tels que “Truth You Hide” et une ballade insipide “Be My Savior”, et c’est d’autant plus dommage que des morceaux comme le “No Tomorrow”, cité précédemment et “Consequence” ne sont pas foncièrement mauvais, mais insuffisant pour sauver un album de la sorte !
Century Media, en nous pondant des groupes de cet acabit se place comme un concurrent redoutable du label le plus craint et le plus soporifique en matière de groupes de Hardcore, à savoir Alveran Records ! La lutte s’annonce acharnée ! Le Hardcore mélodique aurait-il un avenir tout tracé devant lui ? Des groupes comme Agents Of Man seront-ils les grands de demain ?
Tel que nous le montre la front cover de l’album, un ange souhaite sauver la planète se consumant à petit feu, ou préfère-t-il la regarder en train d’être réduite en cendres à cause de groupes comme les vilains Agents Of Man ? J’opterai personnellement pour la seconde solution…
