Après plus de 3 ans de silence et, surtout, après de nombreuses incartades vers des genres un peu différents, D.A.D. revient plus ou moins au style qu’il pratiquait lorsque sa carrière internationale a démarré. Et quel plaisir de retrouver cette basse à deux cordes, ce chant si particulier qui laisse traîner la dernière syllabe, cette guitare tantôt nerveuse, tantôt paresseuse.
Tout commence avec “Lawrence Of Suburbia” qui rappelle clairement la grande époque tant musicalement qu’en ce qui concerne le cynisme des paroles. Car le groupe aime s’amuser et livrer des textes drôles, souvent parodiques. C’est également le cas sur “Camping In Scandinavia”.
On retrouve sur cet album toutes les influences qui ont façonnées le style de D.A.D. : le Hard Rock, bien sûr, mais aussi le Blues, le Rock et le Punk. Ainsi, les Danois nous promènent de style en style : de l’agressivité crue de “A Good Day (To give It Up)” à la paisible “Little Addict” avec son refrain Pop et son phrasé de guitare entêtant, en passant par “Scare Yourself ” dont le refrain pourrait passer pour du Marilyn Manson !
En dépit des qualités évidentes de cet album qui enchaîne les chansons agréables et variées, on ne peut s’empêcher de regarder dans le passé et de constater qu’il est nettement inférieur à No Fuel Left For The Pilgrims et Riskin’ It All.
