Ceux qui connaissent HELLVETO savent que son leader, L.O.N., aime les ambiances créées au synthé. Il les aime tellement qu’il a fondé un side-project qui leur est entièrement consacré : BLAKAGIR, dont Carpathian Art Of Sin est le troisième opus. Cet album est divisé en deux actes mais le gros problème ici est que les progressions sont à peine perceptibles et que le tout souffre d’une trop grande homogénéité. Le concept, si tant est qu’il y en ait un, se retrouve complètement noyé dans un rendu sans nuances marquées. Au sein de chaque titre – qu’il dure deux ou dix minutes –, le même thème musical revient inlassablement. Et ce qui devait arriver arrive donc : sur Carpathian Art Of Sin, ambient rime bien trop souvent avec chiant. Même comme fond sonore sur un jeu de Nintendo DS ou de PSP, cette musique finirait par lasser. L.O.N. ne parvient pas à reproduire l’aspect épique de ses compos pour HELLVETO et c’est l’ennui qui nous guette… assez rapidement d’ailleurs. Pour celles et ceux qui apprécient l’Ambient, je ne peux que conseiller The Grail Cycle, décliné en trois actes, de l’artiste WOLF LINTZ, qui, pour le coup, est beaucoup plus maîtrisé avec une musique totalement au service de son concept et de son histoire. Ceux qui achètent cet album après avoir lu cette critique ne pourront pas dire que je ne les aurai pas prévenus.
