A l ‘origine existant sous le nom de DOGGYSTYLE, le combo Français prend par la suite le patronyme de HEADCHARGER. Soucieux de délivrer une première production adoubée de cette nouvelle appellation, les Caennais produisent leur premier album, sobrement intitulé Headcharger.
Prisant un mélange de Hardcore, de Metal avec certaines touches de Rock’n’Roll, le quintette Français nous charge avec ses onze morceaux dont les rythmiques sont nerveuses, énergiques, aidées en cela par un bon sens de la composition et d’écriture. L’équilibre proposé au travers des multiples écoutes de l’opus prouve que l’on a à faire à un groupe sérieux, efficace et professionnel.
Mais il n’empêche qu’au rayon des moins bonnes choses, on remarque que la production manque légèrement de force, avec un son de guitares un peu trop sec et une batterie trop en retrait ! Un peu plus de lourdeur n’aurait sûrement pas fait de mal aux titres.
Quant au morceau «Dead Or Alive» et ses résonances Néo, celui-ci fait « tache » parmi cette sélection, car s’écartant trop du reste des autres titres et coupant l’homogénéité de l’album.
Pour du Hardcore, l’opus est en plus assez long, ce qui donne des morceaux chargés, manquants de leur essence naturelle, à savoir la simplicité et des titres allant droit au but.
On pourra également noter l’originalité de la front cover de l’opus qui n’a pas grand chose à voir avec l’image estampillée Hardcore que l’on a l’habitude de voir ! Toujours est-il que HEADCHARGER offre là un album convenable, tout simplement !
