On peut légitimement se demander pourquoi PINK CREAM 69 n’a pas réussi à s’imposer parmi les groupes majeurs du genre. Car, à bien y réfléchir, ils nous ont rarement déçu. Ce dixième album est encore une bombe contenant son lot de hits en puissance. Le groupe continue d’évoluer dans le style qu’il maîtrise si bien : un Hard Rock à la fois énergique et riche en mélodies. L’ensemble étant particulièrement travaillé pour obtenir un cocktail unique et rapidement reconnaissable.
J’aurai bien décrit les chansons les plus significatives mais on y passerait la journée, car il faut l’admettre : cet album ne contient que bien peu de faiblesses ; les hits s’enchaînent avec un aplomb incroyable et l’on est étourdi par autant de savoir-faire. Il est vrai que le groupe est passé maître dans l’art d’écrire des chansons efficaces avec des refrains renversants.
On saluera encore une fois le travail de David Readman qui nous ferait presque oublier Andi Deris.
Les grincheux pourront toujours se plaindre que PC 69 se contente de nous servir la cuisine qu’il connaît sans chercher à évoluer. Ce reproche n’est pas faux, mais on objectera qu’il a réussi à se maintenir et même à affirmer sa personnalité dans un style quasi moribond, ce qui relève du miracle et atteste d’une réelle qualité.
La production de Dennis Ward est très propre mais on peut lui reprocher son manque de fantaisie, il s’est contenté de mettre le tout en boite sans commettre d’erreur mais avec une certaine linéarité. On l’a connu plus inventif sur d’autres projets.
