Malgré ma réticence face aux mélodies sucrées, il m'est assez difficile de dissimuler mon attrait pour les groupes répertoriés dans le Metal Sympho/Mélodique. Surtout que dans le cas présent, VIOLET SUN est dirigé par notre bon vieux Dario Grillo. Le bonhomme en question est un ancien membre des THY MAJESTIE, et instigateur de PLATENS, un projet peu connu, mais qui mérite votre attention. Car lorsque l'on se penche sur les travaux de notre hôte, on se rend très vite compte qu'il a un certain don pour ce qui est d'envoûter l'auditeur. Après s'être entouré du batteur Alex Grillo et de la chanteuse/pianiste Alessandra Amata, le projet a enfin pu naître, tout comme cet album. Même si le temps a bien défilé depuis sa sortie, je ne boude pas mon plaisir à l'idée de vous faire découvrir une production qui sous les apparences, pourrait bien vous surprendre.
Non pas que l'innovation soit de la partie, mais en tout cas, Loneliness In Supremacy sait comment s'y prendre pour nous séduire. C'est accessible, entraînant, en plus de donner tout ce qu'on peut attendre d'une formation de ce type. La vocaliste tient à merveille la route sans en faire des tonnes, et les interventions de Dario nous apportent une petite touche old-school avec sa voix éraillée qui ferait presque sourire par moment. Les guitares quant à elles sont bien solides et se marient à merveille avec la batterie et les effets sonores. On saluera donc des refrains entraînants à la "Inside Out" ou encore "Where Is My Way Home", qui sous leurs airs classiques, restent vraiment plaisants à écouter. Même si on ne passe pas à côté des clichés avec des "Cross The Line" mielleux, le tout est exécuté avec tellement de conviction qu'on passe outre ces détails.
Comparer Loneliness In Supremacy avec une énième production de Metal pour minettes serait une hérésie. Si le début de l'album laisse transparaître quelque chose de très convenu, on découvre par la suite des pistes totalement barrées de la tronche à la "Pray On The Grave" où on ne sait plus quoi distinguer entre les chants bizarroïdes, une Alessandra au top de sa forme, et des bruitages distordus sortis d'une autre dimension. Ces ambiances loufoques seront présentes de façon plus ou moins prononcée sur la totalité de la production.
Mais là où ça devient intéressant, c'est que la formation arrive sans problème à marier des sonorités inattendues (le break au saxophone sur "Fall In Love") avec des schémas basiques, sans paraître désordonnée. Bref, vous l'aurez compris, cette production a été créée avec inspiration, rigueur et surtout passion. En effet, passion est le maitre-mot de cet album. C'est le terme qui pour moi définit à lui seul la musique de VIOLET SUN. Le CD a beau durer plus d'une heure en tout, il se lit avec une telle fluidité que ça en devient presque effrayant au vu de son indéniable richesse. On terminera la galette avec un petit duo Piano/Violon du plus bel effet qui nous portera doucement vers le silence et la dure réalité. Au moins, nous avons eu la chance de voyager en compagnie de ces italiens aux idées étincelantes.
Pourtant, c'est dans l'anonymat le plus complet que Loneliness In Supremacy a vu le jour. Et c'est justement pour cette raison que je me suis intéressé à VIOLET SUN. Afin de voir quelle forme pouvait prendre la détermination lorsqu'elle n'est pas entachée par la lumière des projecteurs. Pour le coup, on se retrouve avec un album rafraîchissant et tout bonnement délicieux pour les oreilles. Mais attention, n'allez pas croire que cette production est bête et méchante. Il y a en effet bien assez de variété et de surprises pour interpeller l'auditeur jusqu'à la fin. Comme quoi, la magie peut revêtir bien des aspects...
