Le Deathcore fonctionne tambour battant Outre-Rhin puisque les groupes pratiquant ce style de Metal y sont légions et FEAR MY THOUGHTS fait partie de ces combos teutons. Petite particularité tout de même pour FEAR MY THOUGHTS mais elle est de taille : là où pléthore de groupes misent sur la brutalité et la puissance avant tout, les allemands se distinguent par leur approche nettement plus mélodique, d’où des compositions et des arrangements plus travaillés. Les titres n’hésitent d’ailleurs pas à lorgner sur le Progressif, ce qui n’est pas pour déplaire.
Néanmoins, il faut du temps pour se plonger complètement dans cet album, le quatrième du groupe et ce depuis 2000, date de leur formation ! Que de chemin parcouru !
Sitôt que l’on s’y est immergé, on découvre alors une œuvre aboutie et mature. Bien que l’album ne soit pas facile à aborder ni à analyser, un titre comme « Sweetest Hell » illustre bien de quoi est capable FEAR MY THOUGHTS.
Les onze autres morceaux présents sur la rondelle sonnent parfaitement réglés et joués au diapason. Maîtrise technique de rigueur, les musiciens sont suffisamment talentueux pour ne pas tomber dans le piège de la démonstration, tout en sachant distiller des riffs intéressants et des rythmiques syncopées ici et là. Bref, aussi bien varié en termes d’ambiances et de jeux, FEAR MY THOUGHTS propose un très bon opus digne d’intérêt prouvant que l’on peut exécuter du Deathcore sans tomber dans l’écueil de la facilité.
En tout cas, la façon de penser le Deathcore de FEAR MY THOUGHTS est dans l’ensemble plutôt agréable et bien faite. A suivre…
