Puisque l’excellent Lipservice renouait avec le Hard Rock qui a fait les heures de gloires du groupe, il était judicieux de profiter de la tournée qui a suivi pour enregistrer un live. Ce Made In Switzerland répond à toutes nos attentes puisqu’il est un fidèle témoignage des performances de GOTTHARD sur scène.
En premier lieu on peut constater que chaque morceau prend une dimension particulière en live et que le côté “direct” renforce cette ambiance “Rock’n Roll” groovie qui fait le charme du groupe. Par ailleurs, GOTTHARD démontre une aisance insolente, avec, à sa tête, un Steve Lee en grande forme. Chaque titre est donc mené tambour battant ; les tubes s’enchaînent sans que l’on puisse déplorer le moindre temps mort.
Ce live est l’occasion de revenir sur la carrière de GOTTHARD et de constater qu’en dépit d’une baisse de régime en milieu de carrière, le groupe dispose d’un sacré catalogue de hits. On peut difficilement contester le choix des titres de ce concert.
Les chansons sont assez fidèles aux enregistrements studio mais on notera toutefois une adaptation intéressante de “In The Name” en version ballade. Ceux qui – comme moi – appréciaient les riffs de ce morceau y seront pour leur frais, mais le résultat est une réussite incontestable. Elle démontre – s’il en était besoin – la capacité du groupe de sortir de bonnes ballades.
Le tout s’achève sur une reprise honorable de “Immigrant Song” de LED ZEPPELIN.
La production est admirable : elle donne au groupe un son énorme sans pénaliser l’aspect spontané, ni les interventions du public.
