Non, il ne s’agit pas du retour de l’un des groupes mythiques des années 80, hélas, mais simplement d’une farce. Dee Snider et sa bande n’ont plus une thune, et comme ils nous ont déjà fait le coup du live, de l’album remixé (Still Hungry) et des fonds de tiroir (Club Daze et Club Daze 2), ils sont bien obligés d’innover un peu. Enfin, d’innover… façon de parler.
TWISTED SISTER reprend quelques grands classiques du Hard Rock et du Heavy Metal mais en les mixant avec des chants de Noël. Ainsi « Problem Child » d’AC/DC devient « Silver Bells » ou « You've Got Another Thing Coming » devient « I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus ». Même si on a souvent du mal à reconnaître l’original. A côté de cela de véritables chants de Noël sont adaptés en version Hard Rock. Mais plus le temps passe, plus on se demande quel est l’intérêt de cet album. Car on n’y trouve ni originalité, ni plaisir. On a le sentiment que le groupe est emprisonné par son concept de départ et qu’il peine à apporter un souffle nouveau. Plutôt qu’une relecture de chants connu, TWISTED SISTER se contente de les jouer avec le vieux son d’antan. C’est tout ? Bah oui. L’ensemble est donc horriblement plat et complètement dénué de tout feeling. L’humour de l’intro disparaît bien vite dès lors que tout le monde réalise (le groupe y compris) que tout ceci n’est pas franchement désopilant. Assez vite Dee Snider donne l’impression de s’ennuyer ; par solidarité l’auditeur s’ennui aussi. La participation de Lita Ford (chanteuse qui a connu son heure de gloire en même temps que TWISTED SISTER et qui doit, elle aussi, être en manque d’argent) ne changera pas grand-chose. Ni celle de Doro Pesch sur le classique « White Christmas ».
En bonus, Eddie Ojeda chante « White Christmas » en Espagnol, vous voyez le niveau…
